IOC planning to use solar power to run LPG bottling plant in Leh: Report

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is reportedly planning to reduce its carbon footprint by making use of solar power to make cooking gas refills available to homesteads and security establishments at Ladakh in the state of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).

The company has switched its LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) bottling plant at Leh, the headquarters of the country’s largest district by area, from diesel generating set to an on-site 100 kw (kilo watt) solar power plant built at cost of over Rs 1 crore.

IOC is the largest enterprise in the country and the foremost ranked Fortune Global 500 Company in India and has presence in the complete hydrocarbon value chain from downstream refining & marketing, pipeline transportation, Petrochemicals, E&P and Gas Marketing.
