Asian markets trade lower in early deals on Monday

All of the Asian markets are trading lower in early deals on Monday after China reported lackluster growth data in line with expectations. Geopolitical and trade tensions were weighing on sentiment despite gains last week on Wall Street. Meanwhile, China shares declined as investors digested the release of a barrage of economic data, including second-quarter GDP growth of 6.7 percent which met expectations. The Japanese market is closed in observance of Marine Day.

Hang Seng declined 47.71 points or 0.17% to 28,477.73, KOSPI Index contracted 6.84 points or 0.30% to 2,304.06, Taiwan Weighted slipped 5.55 points or 0.05% to 10,858.99, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI tumbled 4.26 points or 0.25% to 1,717.67, Shanghai Composite crumbled 13.42 points or 0.48% to 2,817.76, Jakarta Composite decreased 36.82 points or 0.62% to 5,907.25, and Straits Times down by 27.41 points or 0.85% to 3,232.94.
