The high end political drama which started with Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel resigning from the cabinet seems to be cooling off now with Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi’s intervention. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said “Sharad Pawar is a very valued colleague whose knowledge, wisdom and experience are a great asset to our government.”

Nationalist Congress Party, an important ally, presently possesses as threat as it is all set to part ways from the UPA-II government. The curtains of the drama were raised by NCP chief Sharad Pawar who was reportedly upset over rejecting the no. 2 position in the cabinet. Owing to this reason Agriculture Minister along with Heavy Industries Minister Praful Patel, reportedly, offered resignation. However, Praful Patel, Heavy Industries Minister said “till such time we have not given any formal resignation…the issue is not resignation…till it is not accepted…we have sent a communication.”

As per few media reports, the main reason for Pawar’s resignation is not about the pecking order in the cabinet, there are other issues too with the Congress party which coerced him to offer resignation. However, Congress party president Sonia Gandhi has assured him during the meeting that NCP is an important ally and the issues will be discussed at the party meeting on Monday and the final call will be accordingly communicated.
