Most of the Asian markets are trading in red in early deals on Monday amid the mixed cues from Wall Street Friday and as investors focused on United States-China trade tensions. Several markets in the region are closed for holiday, including South Korea for Chuseok Day, Taiwan and China for the Mid-Autumn Festival, and Japan for Autumnal Equinox. Among the other Asian markets, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia are lower. Bucking the trend, Singapore is trading higher.
Jakarta Composite dropped 64.14 points or 1.09% to 5,893.60, Hang Seng dipped 355.01 points or 1.29% to 27,598.57, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI down by 10.35 points or 0.57% to 1,800.29.
On the flip side, Straits Times up by 12.71 points or 0.39% to 3,230.35.
