Indian rupee strengthened marginally against the dollar on Wednesday on mild selling of the US currency by exporters amid easing crude oil prices. Besides, weakness in dollar against some major basket of currencies and a higher opening of the domestic equity market also added support to rupee. On the global front, the dollar kept to tight ranges as investors focused their attention on the Federal Reserve’s policy review later in the day as global markets fret over an escalating trade row between the United States and China.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 72.66, tad stronger from its previous close of 72.69 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 72.73 and 72.5625 respectively. The reference rate for the dollar stood at 72.81 and for Euro stood at 85.62 on September 25, 2018. While the reference rate for the Yen stood at 64.47, the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 95.50. The reference rates are based on 12 noon rates of a few select banks in Mumbai.
