All of the Asian markets are trading higher in early deals on Wednesday, following a strong bounce on Wall Street overnight. Further, robust US corporate earnings and encouraging data assuaged worries about softening global growth also fuelled the uptrend. The Japanese market is higher with traders sentiments bolstered by the gains on Wall Street. In addition, a weaker yen lifted shares of exporters. The markets in Hong Kong are closed for the Chung Yeung Festival.
Nikkei 225 dropped 240.83 points or 1.06% to 22,790.07, Shanghai Composite dipped 2.55 points or 0.10% to 2,548.88, Straits Times contracted 51.90 points or 1.68% to 3,086.21, KOSPI Shares declined 18.70 points or 0.86% to 2,163.82, Taiwan Weighted down by 30.67 points or 0.31% to 10,011.77, Jakarta Composite gained 33.21 points or 0.57% to 5,834.03, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI up by 2.76 points or 0.16% to 1,739.60.
