Most of the Asian equity benchmark indices are trading higher in the early deals on Monday. Japanese and Hong Kong shares showed gains after the second straight session gains in Chinese stocks. Meanwhile, geopolitical concerns over Saudi Arabia, Italy and Brexit capped upside. On the economic front, Japan will see August numbers for its all industry activity index today.
Nikkei 225 up 119.05 points or 0.53% to 22,651.13, Shanghai Composite rose 106.40 points or 4.00% to 2,656.87, Hang Seng up 612.58 points or 2.34% to 26,173.98, Straits Times gain 10.32 points or 0.34% to 3,072.83 , KOSPI Shares up 4.64 points or 0.21% to 2,160.90, Taiwan Weighted gain 51.89 points or 0.52% to 9,971.15 and Jakarta Composite up 0.43 points or 0.01% to 5,837.72.
On the flip side, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI down by 7.26 points or 0.42% to 1,724.88.
