All of the Asian equity benchmark indices are trading higher on Wednesday after the report of strong preliminary manufacturing data in Japan. Though, some gains were capped after US equities closed lower overnight on disappointing corporate earnings results.
Nikkei 225 added 184.92 points or 0.83% to 22,195.70, Shanghai Composite rose 39.67 points or 1.51% to 2,634.50, Hang Seng jumped 219.12 points or 0.86% to 25,565.67, Straits Times gained 17.88 points or 0.59% to 3,049.27, KOSPI Shares spurt 3.28 points or 0.16% to 2,109.38, Taiwan Weighted increased 32.75 points or 0.33% to 9,807.95, Jakarta Composite improved 0.29 points or 0.01% to 5,798.18, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI up by 3.23 points or 0.19% to 1,700.83.
