Asian market indices are exhibiting mixed trend in early deals on Tuesday as investors looked ahead to the United States midterm elections set to be held later in the day, which will decide control of both the House and Senate. Meanwhile, the Japanese market is rising following the mostly positive cues from Wall Street and on a slightly weaker yen. Among the other Asian market, South Korea, and Indonesia are higher. Bucking the trend, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan are lower. The markets in Malaysia and Singapore are closed for Deepavali.
Nikkei 225 added 241.52 points or 1.09% to 22,140.51, KOSPI Shares gained 1.62 points or 0.08% to 2,078.54, and Jakarta Composite up by 2.27 points or 0.04% to 5,922.86.
On the flip side, Hang Seng declined 39.69 points or 0.15% to 25,894.70, Taiwan Weighted dropped 82.47 points or 0.84% to 9,807.34, and Shanghai Composite down by 28.08 points or 1.06% to 2,637.35.
