Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Monday, due to increased demand for the American currency from importers amid increasing global crude oil prices. Further, the dollar's strength against some currencies overseas too weighed on the rupee. On the global front, the dollar built on last week’s gains and rose toward a 16-month high on Monday as traders expect the US Federal Reserve to keep tightening monetary policy, but sterling remained under heavy pressure amid uncertainty over a Brexit deal.
