Tata Steel begins phase-II expansion of Kalinganagar plant

Tata Steel has begun the phase-II expansion of Kalinganagar plant to 8 million tons per annum (mtpa) capacity from 3 mtpa. The expansion will incur a cost of Rs 23,500 crore and take 48 months to complete.

The project configuration and costs include investments in raw material capacity expansion, upstream and mid-stream facilities, and infrastructure and downstream facilities.

Tata Steel, the flagship company of the Tata group is the first integrated steel plant in Asia and is now the world’s second most geographically diversified steel producer and a Fortune 500 Company.
