Bond yields trade lower on Thursday

06 Dec 2018 Evaluate

Bond yields edged lower on Thursday, as sentiment remained positive after a dovish monetary policy where central bank officials hinted at more open market purchases and reversal of policy move if inflation risks subside.

Furthermore, Oil prices fell along with weak stock markets, but trading was tepid ahead of a meeting by producer group OPEC that is expected to result in a supply cut aimed at draining a glut that has pulled down crude prices by 30 percent since October.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis points lower at 7.43% from its previous close of 7.44% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 1 basis point lower at 7.38% from its previous close of 7.39% on Wednesday.
