Asian market indices are exhibiting mixed trend in early deals on Monday following the concern of traders about the impact of a partial US government shutdown and slowing global economic growth. Some of the markets will close early for Christmas. Among the other Asian markets, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea are in negative territory. Bucking the trend, Malaysia, Singapore, and Shanghai are higher. The markets in Japan and Indonesia are closed for public holidays.
Hang Seng dipped 102.04 points or 0.40% to 25,651.38, Taiwan Weighted decreased 25.90 points or 0.27% to 9,620.26, and KOSPI Shares down by 5.12 points or 0.25% to 2,056.37.
On the flip side, Straits Times added 5.02 points or 0.16% to 3,051.06, Shanghai Composite gained 4.33 points or 0.17% to 2,520.58, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI up by 4.55 points or 0.27% to 1,674.83.
