Bond yields trade higher on Thursday

Bond yields edged higher on Thursday, as sentiments remain downbeat on overnight rise in crude oil prices.

In the global market, Yields on long-dated US Treasury securities fell to their lowest in nearly a year on concerns about the health of the global economy, a worry exacerbated late in the day when Apple cut its sales outlook and sent US equity index futures tumbling. Furthermore, Oil prices fell amid volatile currency and stock markets, and as analysts warned of an economic slowdown for 2019 just as crude supply is rising globally.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 7 basis points higher at 7.42% from its previous close of 7.35% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading flat at its previous close at 7.22% on Wednesday.
