India’s crude steel production rises around 5% in January-November 2018

The World Steel Association (worldsteel) in its latest report has showed that India’s crude steel production increased by 4.91% to 96.923 million tonnes (MT) during the January-November 2018 period, as compared to 92.389 MT during the same period of 2017.

As per the report, India surpassed Japan to become the second largest steel producer in the world with expansion in output backed by a sound growth in demand. Besides, Japan recorded a dip of 0.1% in steel output in the same period at 95.860 MT, while China retained its position at the top with steel production of 857.372 MT.

World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the worldsteel was 148.6 MT in November 2018, a 5.8% increase compared to November 2017.
