Steel stocks surges as India to leave behind US in steel consumption this year

Tata Steel is currently trading at Rs. 462.80, up by 6.00 points or 1.3% from its previous closing of Rs. 456.80 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 457.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 465.60 and Rs. 457.00 respectively. So far 208289 shares were traded on the counter.

JSW Steel is currently trading at Rs. 281.65, up by 3.90 points or 1.40% from its previous closing of Rs. 277.75 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 278.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 284.90 and Rs. 277.60 respectively. So far 186331 shares were traded on the counter.

Jindal Steel & Power is currently trading at Rs. 139.75, up by 1.85 points or 1.34% from its previous closing of Rs. 137.90 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 137.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 140.90 and Rs. 137.30 respectively. So far 574255 shares were traded on the counter.

Steel sector stocks edged higher with Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh’s statement that India is expected to edge past the US with regard to steel consumption this year.
