India's Horticulture crop output is likely to rise by 1% to mark record 314.67 MT in 2018-19 on the higher area. As per the final estimates of 2017-18, horticulture output rose by 3.7% comparing previous year, at 311.7 MT and 10% up comparing past five years' average production. The total acreage has hiked from 25.43 MT to 25.87 MT.
Onion yield in the current year is estimated to be about 23.62 MT comparing last year's 23.26 MT, while potato production is estimated to be at 52.58 MT compared to 51.31 MT. Tomato output likely to rise 2% to 20.51 MT as against 19.76 MT in 2017-18.
The fruits output is estimated to be at 97.35 MT, while that of vegetables at about 187.5 MT. The agriculture ministry released the final estimates for 2017-18 and first estimates for 2018-19 of area and production of horticulture crops.
