Asian markets trade in green in early deals on Thursday

Asian equity benchmarks are trading in green in the early deals on Thursday following the overnight gains on Wall Street after the US Federal Reserve said it would be patient in raising interest rates going forward. Hong Kong and mainland Chinese stocks are trading higher after an official gauge of China’s manufacturing activity came in better than expected, although it still indicated a continued contraction in the sector. The Taiwan market is closed for a public holiday.

Nikkei 225 added 260.07 points or 1.27% to 20,816.61, Hang Seng surged 334.48 points or 1.21% to 27,977.33, Straits Times gained 12.15 points or 0.38% to 3,186.53, Shanghai Composite spurt 16.26 points or 0.63% to 2,591.84, KOSPI Shares improved 8.58 points or 0.39% to 2,214.78, Jakarta Composite rose 53.63 points or 0.83% to 6,517.82, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI up by 7.33 points or 0.44% to 1,691.44.
