Asian equity benchmarks are exhibiting mixed trend early deals on Monday, following the lackluster cues from Wall Street on Friday amid worries about global economic growth. Investors are cautious as they looked ahead to another round of US-China trade negotiations in Beijing this week. The Japanese market is closed for the National Foundation Day. Among the other Asian markets, Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia are lower. Bucking the trend, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Shanghai are higher.
Hang Seng added 63.63 points or 0.23% to 28,009.95, Shanghai Composite gained 21.73 points or 0.83% to 2,639.96, Taiwan Weighted spurt 89.19 points or 0.90% to 10,021.45, and Jakarta Composite up by 0.12 points to 6,521.78.
On the flip side, Straits Times declined 15.38 points or 0.48% to 3,186.66, KOSPI Shares dropped 0.28 points or 0.01% to 2,176.77, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI down by 6.50 points or 0.39% to 1,676.72.
