Reliance Communications add 2.94 million mobile subscribers in April

Reliance Communications (RCom), India's second-biggest mobile carrier has signed up 2.94 million cellular users in April and with this addition the telecom major has total mobile subscriber base of 138.7 million.

Besides, Rcom has drawn second tranche of Rs 1,780 crore ($400 million) from China Development Bank (CDB) underwritten facility of Rs 8,700 crore ($1.93 billion) towards refinancing of 3G spectrum fees. The said facilities includes Rs 6,000 crore ($1.33 billion) for refinancing of 3G spectrum fee payment by the company and Rs 2,700 crore ($600 million) for equipment imports from Chinese vendors.

Recently, in April this year, the company launched the 3G services across Chhattisgarh. The launch of Reliance 3G was an integral part of Reliance’s Vision-2015 of creating a ‘wirefree India’ built on an ‘affordable 3G for all’ platform.
