Natural rubber importing of India has declined by 4.8% during January, comparing to previous year's 39,997 tonnes, due to dip in local consumption with the weak demand from tyre makers. Rubber consumption has contracted by 2.4% to 97,000 tonnes.
Tyre companies have reported to have trimmed their purchases in line with slowdown in auto sales. The Rubber Board reported a dip in rubber yield by 1.4% from last year's 72,000 tonnes.
India's imports between April-January had climbed more than 30% from a year ago to 489,085 tonnes. India imports natural rubber mainly from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
