Asian markets trade lower in early deals on Tuesday

All of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading in red in the early deals on Tuesday as investors awaited the US central bank’s latest monetary policy decision after a two-day meeting starting later in the day. Japan’s Nikkei edged lower as investors took profits on exporters’ stocks, but losses were capped by gains in financials which were helped by rising US yields.

Nikkei 225 dropped 27.59 points or 0.13% to 21,556.91, Straits Times dipped 3.42 points or 0.11% to 3,209.54, Hang Seng slipped 74.40 points or 0.25% to 29,334.61, Shanghai Composite contracted 6.92 points or 0.22% to 3,089.50, Taiwan Weighted declined 13.64 points or 0.13% to 10,499.06, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI tumbled 2.10 points or 0.12% to 1,688.84, Jakarta Composite decreased 26.62 points or 0.41% to 6,482.83, and KOSPI Shares down by 3.72 points or 0.17% to 2,175.77
