The Asian equity benchmarks are trading mixed in the early deals on Wednesday, as investors went cautious amid US recession concerns and global economic slowdown outlook. Japan’s Nikkei dropped as companies’ going ex-dividend dented the market, while stability in U.S. yields supported the downside.
Nikkei 225 down 115.59 points or 0.54 % to 21,312.80, Taiwan Weighted dip 24.48 points or 0.23% to 10,534.72, KOSPI Shares contracted 5.60 points or 0.26% to 2,143.20, Jakarta Composite dragged 16.95 points or 0.26% to 6,453.05, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI slipped by 6.46 points or 0.39% to 1,643.48.
On the flip side, Hang Seng increased 131.18 points or 0.46% to 28,698.09, Straits Times climbed 12.03 points or 0.38% to 3,212.31, Shanghai Composite up by 23.42 points or 0.78% to 3,020.52.
