Bharat Petro Resources (BPRL), a fully owned subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), has successfully completed the exploration program in Madanam 3(NMAB) well of NELP TV Block CY-ONN-2002/2 in Cauvery Onland Basin in Tamil Nadu. The national oil company of India - Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), is the operator of the block.
The exploratory well produced 115 m3/day crude oil and 11,500 m3/day of gas through 6 mm bean. The API gravity of oil produced is 35.7 degree. Compared to earlier lower-productivity basement discoveries, Madanam 3 discovery is a major breakthrough in basement play exploration in Cauvery basin. This discovery well is situated 14 Km south-east of Chidarnbaram town in Tamil Nadu.
BPRL holds a 40-percent working interest and operator ONGC bolds the balance 60 percent working interest in the block.
