Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has reported that India's exports of agricultural and processed food products fell by 2.27 per cent to $16.27 billion during the April-February period of 2018-19, as against last year same period’s $16.65 billion. Contraction in shipments of buffalo meat, wheat and non-basmati rice are stated as reason for the dip.
As per the report, shipment of buffalo meat, wheat and non-basmati rice contracted by 11.32%, 48.79% and 19.33%, respectively, during the 11-month period of 2018-19. Other products in negative territory, as per report include fresh fruits and vegetables, processed fruits and juices, sheep and goat meat, ground nuts, cereal preparations, and alcoholic beverages.
Even though, floriculture, fruits and vegetables seeds, pulses, processed vegetables, processed meat, dairy products, guar gum and basmati rice marked a positive growth. Pulses exports also grew 28.46% to $235 million during the period under review.
