GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals’ Thane factory ceases operations

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals has ceased operations at its Thane Factory and the relevant applications for closure of the factory are being filed by the company.

The company has taken this step as all workmen at the factory except, one who has retired on July 31, 2012 of the company have taken voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) offered by the company.

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals is one oldest pharmaceutical company in India. Internationally it has created many brands such as Ribena, Horlicks, Lucozade, Aquafresh, Sensodyne, Panadol, Tums and Zovirax, among others. It employs 5,000 people and has turnover of more than $1 billion in India.
