HPCL hikes CNG prices by Rs 3.90 per kg to Rs 56.90 per kg in Ahmedabad

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) has hiked the prices of CNG in Ahmedabad by Rs 3.90 per kg and will be selling CNG now at Rs 56.90 per kg. The oil and gas PSU operating with a network of 22 gas stations in the city has cited that the increase in the gas cost is main reason behind price hike. The company had last hiked the CNG prices on May 17, 2012 and the increase was around Rs 2.80 per kg, taking the gas price from Rs 50.22 per kg to Rs 53 per kg.

HPCL operates two major refineries producing a wide variety of petroleum fuels and specialties, one in Mumbai (west coast) of 6.5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) capacity and the other in Vishakapatnam, (east coast) with a capacity of 7.5 MMTPA.

On standalone basis, the company has reported a net loss of Rs 9248.80 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 against net loss of Rs 3080.26 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal. However, total income increased by 8.74% at Rs 44710.17 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 41117.73 crore in the year-ago period.
