Mid-Sept may see big Cabinet re-shuffle

30 Aug 2012 Evaluate

To strengthen its stand in the upcoming 2014 elections, Congress party is reportedly looking forward for a major cabinet re-shuffle in the second week of September 2012. The top level changes are likely in the various ministries including petroleum, external affairs, power, roads and highways, and information and broadcasting.

This re-shuffle will see Jaipal Reddy and SM Krishna swapping their portfolios for state level positions. Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is likely to replace Reddy by taking over Petroleum Ministry. Reddy may take over as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh; however, the same will not be done independently.

The scam ridden government is trying every possible move to ensure its win in the Lok Sabha elections of 2014. The Congress party President Sonia Gandhi has already sent the party into election mode and had given a wakeup call to its allies during the UPA-II’s third anniversary meet.
