On Friday, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi took on questions from a number of netizens on a variety of topics through a live video chat on Google+ Hangout, hosted by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. The video chat facilitates 'group video chat' with up to 10 persons at a time and it is available in Twitter and Facebook.

The program began at 8.45 pm, late by 45 minutes from its previously scheduled start time 8 pm, as Google Plus reportedly crashed due to large response. When the Hangout began, actor Ajay Devgan, the anchor, and Narendra Modi profusely apologised for the delay. On the responses made, organisers of the Hangout ensured that some sort of discipline was needed. The questions had to be submitted beforehand and Ajay Devgan would moderate the chat.

Modi, who is active on Twitter and will be facing assembly elections by year-end, answered various questions during the programme. The chat was broadcast live on YouTube as well. Modi is the first Indian politician to host a live chat via the Internet, joining the ranks of US President Obama and Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
