Bond yields edged higher on Wednesday after a monthly survey showed that India’s services sector activity growth eased in August as new business inflows rose at a slower pace; following which job creation and output expansion moderated.

In the global market, US Treasury yields fell on Tuesday, with the benchmark 10-year yield hitting its lowest since July 2016, after US manufacturing data showed the first contraction since 2016 on worries about a weakening global economy and US-China trade tensions. Furthermore, Crude oil prices rose on Wednesday as speculators raised their exposure, tracking a rebound in global market.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis point higher at 6.52% from its previous close of 6.51% on Tuesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 1 basis point higher at 6.29% from its previous close of 6.28% on Tuesday.
