Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Monday, as US-China trade deal appeared elusive on Friday after Chinese officials unexpectedly cancelled a visit to farms in Montana and Nebraska as deputy trade negotiators wrapped up two days of talks in Washington. Market sentiments also dulled with the negative trend in Crude oil rates and on intensified worries on global economic slowdown. Japanese market is closed for Autumn Equinox holiday. Among the other Asian markets, Shanghai, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Malaysia are in negative territory.
Shanghai dipped 39.44 points 1.31% to 2,967.01, Straits Times down 8.41 points or 0.27% to 3,151.27, Hang Seng decreased 228.41 points or 0.86% to 26,207.26, Taiwan Weighted narrowed 15.14 points or 0.14% to 10,914.55, KOSPI Index diminished 1.83 points or 0.09% to 2,089.69, Jakarta Composite lower by 14.90 points or 0.24% to 6,216.57, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI declined 4.10 points or 0.26% to 1,593.
