In order to meet the growing demand both in the domestic and overseas markets, Emami, a Kolkata-based FMCG firm, is revamping its R&D centre and manufacturing facilities for its 'Boroplus' and 'Zandu' products. The company would be churning around the investment of Rs 75 crore on expanding capacities and modernizing various units across the country within this financial year.
The company is expanding its Pantnagar unit which makes Boroplus antiseptic cream, Himani fast relief, Navratna Oil and Mentho Plus Balm. Besides, it is also expanding its Boroplus cream plant in Kolkata as well. The company will be revamping the manufacturing units of Zandu products located in West Bengal and Gujarat. At present, Emami has around 10 manufacturing units in India.
As part of its expansion plan, the company is also enhancing its distribution network with more thrust on penetrating into the rural markets.
The company’s net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 rose 7.04% at Rs 39.84 crore as compared to Rs 37.22 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Its total income increased by 25.05% at Rs 290.47 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 232.28 crore for the same quarter last year.
