Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading higher on Wednesday, though pared some gains in the session as market players eyed for cues from the ongoing US-China high-level trade negotiations. Taiwan's market is closed for a holiday today. Japan's Nikkei is advancing in a choppy session following the downbeat Japanese core machine orders data and on a softer yen. Among the other Asian markets, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Shanghai and Malaysia are in positive lead. Bucking the trend Singapore and South Korea are in negative pace.
Nikkei 225 up 46.82 points 0.22% to 21,503.20, Hang Seng increased 46.35 points or 0.18% to 25,729.16, Jakarta Composite widened by 4.87 points or 0.08% to 6,034.03, Shanghai rose 5.48 points 0.19% to 2,930.34, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI enlarged 0.10 points or 0.01% to 1,551.33.
On the flip side, Straits Times narrowed 3.81 points or 0.12% to 3,086.09, KOSPI Index dipped 16.56 points or 0.81% to 2,029.69.
