Asian equity benchmarks are trading higher on Monday, on account of the increased investments in the market amid optimistic reports that the US and China have reached a partial trade deal that includes up to $40 billion to $50 billion in Chinese purchases of US agricultural products as well as Chinese concessions on intellectual property and financial services. Japan's Nikkei is closed for Health-Sports Day. Among the other Asian markets, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Shanghai, Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia are in positive lead.
Straits Times climbed 11.09 points or 0.36% to 3,125.06, Hang Seng increased 269.97 points or 1.03% to 26,578.41, Taiwan Weighted down 175.51 points or 1.61% to 11,065.47, KOSPI Index enlarged 27.71 points or 1.36% to 2,072.32, Jakarta Composite widened by 24.78 points or 0.41% to 6,130.58, Shanghai rose 41.06 points 1.38% to 3,014.72, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI widened 9.19 points or 0.59% to 1,566.03.
