Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Thursday, in tandem with lackluster cues from Wall Street overnight as the signing of an interim trade deal between the US and China could be delayed until December, dulling the market sentiments. Japan's Nikkei is trading in red amid weak earnings results from market heavyweight Softbank. Among the Asian markets, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shanghai and South Korea are trading lower. However, Singapore and Malaysia are in positive territory.

Nikkei 225 down 16.66 points 0.07% to 23,287.16, Hang Seng decreased 92.95 points or 0.34% to 27,595.69, Taiwan Weighted rose 89.29 points or 0.77% to 11,563.78, KOSPI Index widened 3.27 points or 0.15% to 2,140.88, Jakarta Composite declined by 80.14 points or 1.29% to 6,137.41 and Shanghai enlarged 8.79 points 0.30% to 2,969.81.

On the flip side, Straits Times rose 0.93 points or 0.03% to 3,263.62 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI up 0.36 points or 0.02% to 1,603.61.
