Bond yields trade lower on Wednesday

Bond yields edged lower on Wednesday, ahead of the retail inflation data due later in the day.

In the global market, US Treasury yields held below three-month highs on Tuesday after President Donald Trump reiterated that the United States is close to signing a trade deal with China, and before consumer price inflation data on Wednesday. Furthermore, Oil prices dipped as prospects for a trade deal between the United States and China dimmed, weighing on the outlook for the global economy and energy demand.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 3 basis point lower at 6.53% from its previous close of 6.56% on Monday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 4 basis point lower at 6.34% from its previous close of 6.38% on Monday.
