Asian markets trade lower in early deals on Thursday

Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Thursday, followed by negative cues from US stocks overnight amid the possibility that the US and China may not reach a trade deal before next year. The market sentiments dampened with the rising tensions between US and China over Hong Kong. Japan's Nikkei is trading lower, with stronger yen. Among the other Asian markets, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shanghai and Malaysia are trading lower.

Nikkei 225 down 176.13 points 0.76% to 22,972.44, Straits Times contracted 26.71 points or 0.83% to 3,203.07, Hang Seng decreased 433.38 points or 1.61% to 26,456.23, Taiwan Weighted narrowed 100.14 points or 0.86% to 11,531.06, KOSPI Index dipped 33.52 points or 1.58% to 2,091.80, Jakarta Composite dragged by 52.25 points or 0.85% to 6,102.86, Shanghai diminished 11.49 points or 0.39% to 2,899.56, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI down 12.21 points or 0.76% to 1,588.93.
