Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has issued notices to 47 onboard private catering service providers, aiming to improve catering services in trains. The company is looking for bring about changes in the standard of food service in trains.
IRCTC has already discontinued 24 contracts, of the total onboard catering contracts numbering 358, for non-adherence to the stipulated performance standards.
IRCTC is the only entity authorised by the Indian railways to provide catering services to railways, online railway tickets and packaged drinking water at railway stations and trains in India.
