India’s crude steel production dips by 3.4% to 9.089 MT in October: Worldsteel

The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) in its latest report showed that India's crude steel production dipped about 3.4% to 9.089 million tonne (MT) during October 2019 compared to same period last year's 9.408 MT. Besides, the global crude steel production fell by 2.8% at 151.494 MT in October 2019, compared to last year same period's 155.833 MT.

As per the report, the US reported to have produced 7.407 MT of crude steel in October 2019, down by 2% as against previous year same month's 7.557 MT. China’s steel output marked a dip of 0.6% as against 82.014 MT in October 2018. While, Japan's output contracted by 4.9% to 8.15 MT. In EU, Germany reported 3.3 MT of crude steel in October 2019, Italy produced 2.2 MT of metal, France produced 1.2 MT and Spain's output was at 1.2 MT. Brazil produced 2.6 MT, Turkey and Ukraine produced 2.7 MT and 1.6 MT, respectively in October.

About 64 countries are reporting on Crude steel production to World Steel Association. Members of world steel represent approximately 85% of the world's steel production, including over 160 steel producers with 9 of the 10 largest steel companies, national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes.
