Domestic air passenger volume rises 11.18% during November

The domestic air passenger count witnessed double-digit growth of 11.18% in the month of November 2019 as compared to same month of last year. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data, domestic airlines flew 129.47 lakh passengers in November 2019, as against 116.45 lakh passengers carried in the same month of last year. Further, passengers carried by domestic airlines during January- November 2019 were 1311.54 lakh as against 1262.83 lakh during the corresponding period of previous year, registering a growth of 3.86%

In terms of passenger load factor (PLF), SpiceJet was leading among all with 92.8% PLF during the month of November 2019, followed by Go Air (92.7%) and IndiGo (91.4%). The passenger load factor in the month of November 2019 has shown increasing trend compared to previous month primarily due to the onset of tourist season. Further, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month has been 1.87%.

In terms of on time performance (OTP), Go Air has taken lead from the rest with 67.6% of its flights arriving and departing as per schedule from four metro airports, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, followed by Vistara (67.4%) and Air Asia (66.7%). During November 2019, a total of 932 passenger related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines. The number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for the month of November2019 has been around 0.72.
