Asian markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Monday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading higher on Monday after the announcement made by United States and China on Friday that they have reached a phase one trade deal. Japan's Nikkei is trading higher as US and Chinese officials stated that they have reached an agreement on a phase one trade deal. Among the Asian markets, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, and Shanghai are in positive lead. Bucking the trend, Hong Kong and Malaysia are trading lower.

Nikkei 225 up 4.29 points 0.02% to 24,027.39, Straits Times enlarged 0.77 points or 0.02% to 3,214.82, Taiwan Weighted increased 34.58 points or 0.29% to 11,962.31, KOSPI Index jumped 0.47 points or 0.02% to 2,170.72, Jakarta Composite expanded by 27.12 points or 0.44% to 6,224.44 and Shanghai was up 1.84 points or 0.06% to 2,969.52.

On the flip side, Hang Seng down 102.58 points or 0.37% to 27,585.18, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI diminished by 3.30 points or 0.21% to 1,567.86.
