Amid reports that the Trinamool Congress' (TMC) six ministers will resign during the day, a meeting of the Congress core group, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party chief Sonia Gandhi, is scheduled on Friday evening, to decide on the future course of action.
This is the second meeting of the Congress core group which had met only two days back, following Mamata Banerjee's announcement for withdrawing the support. The resignation is the aftermath of refusal by the centre to agree the demands laid down by Mamata Banerjee, to withdraw the decisions on diesel, LPG cylinders and FDI. Six Ministers will be submitting their resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
However, with the withdrawal of Trinamool Congress, the UPA government's support in Lok Sabha will come down from 273 to 254 and the coalition will be heavily dependent on Samajwadi Party (22) and BSP (21) for its majority in the House.
