Asian markets trade mixed in early deals on Monday

Asian equity benchmarks are trading mixed on Monday, as investors refrained from big bets ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays amid still lingering doubts on US China trade pact. However, better than expected US economic data and positive cues in the US stock markets buoyed the market sentiments. Japan's Nikkei is trading higher with the slightly weaker yen. Among the Asian markets, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia are in higher note. Bucking the trend, Singapore, South Korea, Shanghai and Malaysia are in negative trend.

Nikkei 225 up 23.87 points 0.10% to 23,840.50, Hang Seng widened 17.77 points or 0.06% to 27,889.12, Taiwan Weighted increased 20.43 points or 0.17% 11,979.51,and Jakarta Composite lifted by 6.63 points or 0.11% to 6,291.00,

On the flip side, Straits Times down 5.60 points or 0.17% to 3,206.79, KOSPI Index decreased 3.43 points or 0.16% to 2,200.75, and Shanghai narrowed 14.23points or 0.47% to 2,990.71, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI narrowed by 4.80 points or 0.30% to 1,605.38.
