Bond yields trade lower on Thursday

Bond yields edged lower on Thursday, tracking a consistent fall in crude oil prices.

In the global market, US Treasury yields were narrowly mixed on Wednesday, with market participants cautious overall, as bond investors digested the economic implications of a fatal new coronavirus from China. Furthermore, Oil prices fell more than 2% on Wednesday as a market surplus forecast by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and demand worries amid the outbreak of a virus in China outweighed concern over disruptions to Libya's crude output.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 2 basis points lower at 6.62% from its previous close of 6.64% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 1 basis point higher at 6.42% from its previous close of 6.41% on Wednesday.
