Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower in early deals on Monday, on increasing concerns over the rabid spread of coronavirus, which has infected more than 2,700 people and killed 80 people in China. Meanwhile, investments were mostly muted as several stock exchanges in the region are closed for the Lunar New Year holidays. Japan's Nikkei and Indonesia's Jakarta Composite are in negative trend. The markets in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, China, and Malaysia are closed for public holidays.
Nikkei 225 down 441.49 points or 1.85% to 23,385.69, and Jakarta Composite slipped by 64.07 points or 1.03% to 6,180.04.
