Kejriwal questions Gadkari on Maharashtra irrigation scam

27 Sep 2012 Evaluate
India Against Corruption (IAC) member Arvind Kejriwal showered questions over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari On Thursday, over claims by his fellow activists regarding the involvement of opposition leader and a party MP, Ajay Sancheti along with key Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders like Ajit Pawar, on Maharashtra irrigation scam.

Claims were raised by the IAC activist Anjali Damania, when Gadkari expressed his refusal for providing any sort of help in the irrigation scam matter. Gadkari has made a false-statement that he had discussed with Nitin Gadkari thrice - twice in 2011 and once on August 14, 2012 about the irrigation scam. Criticizing Gadkari, Kejriwal demanded him to reveal his business interests and the relation between Ajay Sancheti and Sharad Pawar and also the work he has has done for Sharad Pawar.

Further, Ajit Pawar, the President of the Vidharbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC), had issued a circular allowing more than three contracts per contractor. The move, was benefited by Sancheti, who has broken company registrar's rules and got licences for both of his companies from VIDC(Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation) in 2007. However, Sancheti has denied the allegation pointing that it is baseless and is an attempt to malign Nitin Gadkari.
