Coal India’s coal supply to power sector drops 6.8% in April-January of FY20

Coal India’s (CIL) coal supply to the power sector registered a decline of 6.8 percent to 377.86 million tonnes (MT) in the April-January period of the ongoing fiscal (FY20) as compared to 405.61 MT same period of last financial year. 

However, the coal despatch by company to the power sector in January registered an increase of 2.9 per cent to 43.20 MT, over 42 MT in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
