SAIL pays Rs 19 lakh to Chhattisgarh govt to remove trees for Rowghat mining project

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has paid about Rs 19 lakh to the Chhattisgarh government to remove over 2,000 trees at its Rowghat iron ore complex so that the company can construct an approach road to the long-stalled project. The company is now hopeful of beginning mining-related activity at the block in two-three months.

SAIL is India’s largest steel producing company. The company is among the five Maharatnas of the country’s Central Public Sector Enterprises. The company has five integrated steel plants, three special plants, and one subsidiary in different parts of the country.
