Crest Animation Studios is currently trading at Rs. 36.45, up by 0.05 points or 0.14% from its previous closing of Rs. 36.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 37.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 37.00 and Rs. 35.60 respectively. So far 3565 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 129.50 on 08-Sep-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs. 35.05 on 17-Aug-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 43.00 and Rs. 35.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 84.47 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 15.92% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 1.33% and 76.11% respectively.

Crest Animation Studios has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a Joint Venture (JV) with Reel FX Inc., a successful US based animation and FX studio which is owned by Tom Kartsotis, a successful entrepreneur in the consumer products business and founder of Fossil, Inc.

The objective of the JV is to finance and produce slate of ten CGI animated / hybrid feature films over a period of 7-8 years. Under the proposed JV, Reel FX shall be the main Creative Partner and Crest’ is envisaged to be the animation services provide from which Crest is expected to earn revenue of more than $100 million over a period of 4-5 years. The parties to the proposed JV are intended to invest more than $220 millions in the form of combinations of equity and debt.

Reel FX Inc. is a Texas based corporation founded in 1993 which is having studio facilities in California and Dallas. Reel FX Inc. creates high-quality digital imagery including visual effects, animation, design, audio and creative editorial services for feature films, multimedia, advertising, television and interactive visual media for a blue chip roster of clients representing major Hollywood Studios and top consumer products companies. The latest film delivered by Reel FX Inc. was “Open Season 3” which was distributed by Sony.

Crest Animation Studios (CASL) popularly known as Crest, was incorporated as an advertising film production company. Today it is one the largest CG (Computer Generated) production companies in India. Since its inception, the company has provided more than 150 hours of television and home video titles in CG animation. The company is known to have introduced animation and special effects to the Indian market.
