Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday tracking positive domestic equities amid sustained foreign fund inflows in the market. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,905.04 crore on Thursday, exchange data showed. Further, weak American currency overseas too supported the domestic currency. Meanwhile, investors are cautious about rising number of corona virus cases and its impact on the global as well as domestic economy. The death toll in India due to corona virus rose to 6,348 and the number of infections rose to 2,26,770, while the number of cases around the world has crossed 66.35 lakh with the death toll topped at 3.91 lakh. On the global front, the euro held gains after the European Central Bank (ECB) expanded its stimulus more than expected to prop up an economy dealing with its worst recession since World War Two.
